Bio: Dalai is a versatile Greek-Mongolian cellist, singer, and composer known for her dynamic range and innovative approach to music.

She earned her degree in Classical Music Performance with distinction from the Conservatory of Art & Technology in Athens, Greece. Dalai has studied under esteemed cellists such as Dimitrios Gouzios (Principal Cellist, K.O.A.), Catalin Ilea (UdK Berlin), and Lucio Amanti (Jazz Cello). After relocating to Berlin in 2008, she immersed herself in the city’s vibrant free jazz and underground music scenes, which deepened her passion for improvisation and composition.

In 2016, Dalai discovered Melbourne’s vibrant music scene and quickly fell in love with it. Since 2022, she has split her time between Melbourne and Berlin, embracing the unique artistic energy of both cities.

Dalai’s performances, featuring both electric and acoustic cello setups, have taken her around the globe, collaborating with acclaimed bands such as Sólstafir, The Ocean Collective, and The Runaway Brides, as well as in musical theatre productions such as Cirque Bouffon and Dirty Granny Tales. Her work includes co-composing a contemporary adaptation of Schiller’s “The Robbers” at Germany’s National Theatre of Meiningen.

Currently, Dalai is a member of the dark cinematic band Black Veil and the chamber black metal supergroup Antiqva. Her solo work often intersects with interdisciplinary art forms, as seen in her latest dance/music piece, “Ta Panta Rhei / Everything Flows.”

Dalai is also an active contributor to the film music industry, producing, composing, and recording for a variety of projects. She frequently collaborates with composers such as Johnny Klimek, Mario Grigorov and others, working with major clients like HBO, Netflix and international art films.

In addition to her performance career, Dalai is passionate about teaching. She has guided students of all ages, from beginners to professionals, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with the next generation of cellists.
